China has made new progress in the detection technology of aerosol spectral characteristics

Recently, the Researcher Group of Anguang Institute of Zhang Weijun has made new progress in the detection technology of aerosol spectral characteristics. The related research results are published in the topic of Three-wavelength cavity-enhanced albedometer for measuring wavelength-dependent optical properties and single-scattering albedo of aerosols. Optics Express, published by the Optical Society of America (OSA).

The spectral properties of aerosols are closely related to their chemical composition, size and mixing state, reflecting the type of aerosol and source characteristics. Limited by the measurement method, the existing aerosol optical measurement system is mostly a single-wavelength, single-parameter measurement system, and it is difficult to realize on-line simultaneous measurement of multiple optical parameters, and the aerosol spectral characteristic measurement system is more scarce.

Researchers Zhao Weixiong and Dr. Xu Xuezhe and others, in 2014, combined the broadband cavity enhanced absorption spectroscopy technology with integrating sphere technology for the first time, and developed the world's first cavity-enhanced albedo spectrometer to achieve the extinction and scattering of atmospheric aerosols. Absorption coefficients, as well as online in situ simultaneous measurements of single scattering albedo (Atmospheric Measurement Techniques, 7(8), 2551-2566, 2014). Recently, they extended the detection wavelength of the system to the ultraviolet-red band, and developed a wide-band cavity-enhanced albedo spectroscopy system to achieve spectral measurement of multiple optical parameters of aerosols (Optics Express, 26(25), 33484-33500, 2018), and has been used in the comprehensive observation of the atmosphere in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions. It has shown good research and business application prospects, and has been highly recognized by domestic and foreign counterparts. The observations are published in the Journal of Geosciences: Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 16 (10), 6421-6439, 2016; Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 18 (23), 16829-16844, 2018.
