Doway Forged Brass Strainer Valves

Function:
A check valve is an automatic device that prevents backflow of the media, protects pumps and motors from reverse rotation, and allows the discharge of media from a container. It can also be used in pipelines where pressure may rise above the system pressure, serving as an auxiliary safety measure.

Classification:
Check valves are categorized based on their structure and installation method:

1. Swing Check Valve: The disc is cylindrical and rotates around the seat axis. This design has lower flow resistance compared to lift check valves, making it suitable for low-flow or large-diameter applications. However, it is not recommended for pulsating flows due to its lower sealing performance. Swing check valves can be single-disc, double-disc, or multi-disc, depending on the valve size and function.

2. Lift Check Valve: The disc moves vertically along the body’s axis. These valves are typically installed in horizontal pipelines and are commonly used for high-pressure, small-diameter systems. The disc may be a ball in some cases. Lift check valves resemble globe valves in shape and have a higher flow resistance. They feature a guided sleeve that allows the disc to move freely. When the media flows, the disc opens under pressure; when the flow stops, it closes automatically, preventing backflow. There are two types: straight-through and vertical, with the latter having a smaller flow resistance.

A check valve is a type of automatic valve that operates based on the flow of the medium, preventing backflow. It is also known as a one-way valve, reflux valve, or backpressure valve.
