Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron and Steel Base Project is located in the East Island of Zhanjiang City, with a designed production capacity of 10 million tons. The initial investment is 50 billion yuan. After the project is put into production, the annual output of steel products is 9.38 million tons, including about 4.48 million tons of hot-rolled commercial materials and 4.9 million tons of cold-rolled sheets. The project started construction in May 2013 and is scheduled to be fully operational in September 2016. Yesterday's No. 1 blast furnace ignition meant that the Zhanjiang Iron and Steel project entered the trial production stage.
