Chemical giant aims at wind blade market

Two chemical giants, Dow Chemical and BASF, have recently announced that they will target the wind turbine blade market for power generation.

At a recent mixed-materials exhibition in Paris, BASF stated that it will work with another company in Europe to supply epoxy resin for fiber-reinforced composites, which can be used in the manufacture of fan blades. BASF sells curing agents, accelerators and additives for the production of epoxy resins, while another company can produce resins independently. The head of BASF's new epoxy system development and marketing department stated that the certification company has approved a new system for the production of wind turbine blades by the two companies.

At the same time, Dow Chemical also introduced a series of epoxy products called A讥tone for the manufacture of wind turbine blades. Such products will make wind turbine blades easier to produce, and the wind turbine wings produced will be stronger and lighter. In addition, Dow StYrofosm brand insulation will also be used in the manufacture of fan blades.
