The Ministry of Science and Technology approved the establishment of the project, and the 2012 international cooperation project undertaken by the Institute of Forest Products Chemical Industry of the Chinese Academy of Forestry Sciences, a new technology for advanced chemical processing of forestry resources, was launched. The project will build on the international innovation and cooperation in different research directions and connect the innovation technology with the current development of China's forestry chemical industry. The project utilizes natural renewable forestry resources such as wood fiber, rosin, oil, lacquer, etc., through the University of South Carolina, U.S. University of Michigan, Flint, U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Agricultural Research Center, Japan Kinki University, and Meiji University, Japan. An international cooperation research platform was established to jointly study key technologies such as active polymerization, structure-effect regulation and transformation, and utilization of natural active ingredients, and to prepare new functional biomass materials, chemicals, and natural active substances.
