Laohekou City in Hubei vigorously developed the county economy and cultivated five major brands to build automotive industry clusters. Statistics show that last year the city’s industrial enterprises above designated size achieved an added value of 740 million yuan, an increase of 11.6% over the previous year, of which the automotive industry accounted for 70% of the total.
The rapid development of the city’s automobile industry has benefited from the implementation of the brand strategy of “borrowing, linking, citing, creating, and contendingâ€. As a county-level city, Laohekou currently owns five advertisement production brands of Dongfeng, Excalibur, Chuguang, Ruijiang, and Shenyu. Under these brands, more than 20 series of nearly 1,000 products such as heavy-duty vehicles and agricultural vehicles were gradually developed, forming a cluster of automotive industries.
With the “Dongfeng†brand, it has produced 15,000 “Dongfeng†assembly vehicles, semi-trailers and other types of special-purpose vehicles each year. Its products rely on Dongfeng’s sales and service network and are sold nationwide with an annual sales income of over RMB 1 billion. In a joint approach, a joint venture between Laohekou Dongfeng Auto Parts Factory and Dongfeng Shenyu Special Purpose Vehicle Co., Ltd. will be established to create the “Shenyu†brand; the introduction of Shiyan Blum Heavy-duty Truck Franchise Co., Ltd. and the introduction of the “Ruijiang†brand will produce “Ruijiangâ€. The brand has 3,000 semi-trailers; relying on its own strength, it has created the “Chuguang†brand and formed 11 models of 11 models including semi-trailers, modified dump trucks and vans, all of which were listed in the National Vehicle Production Announcement Catalog; “God The "Sword" brand is the result of the efforts of Hubei Jiangshan Industry Co., Ltd. to support the military industry of the Laohekou Municipal Committee and the municipal government to develop civilian products. It has an annual output of more than 100 sets of special-purpose transport vehicles for the "Excalibur" brand powder and grain materials.
At present, the city's auto industry already has 31 companies with total assets of 926 million yuan.
