The foundation of the largest natural gas methanol project in China

On December 26, the 850,000-ton/year methanol project jointly invested by Chongqing Huaji Group and Japan was held in Chongqing (Changshou) Chemical Industry Park. This project is currently the largest natural gas methanol production project in China with a total investment of 2.1 billion yuan.

It is understood that this methanol project introduces advanced Japanese Mitsubishi gas technology, large-scale, low energy consumption, design capacity of 850,000 tons / year, the actual production capacity of up to 1 million tons / year, an international-level economy. At the same time, the project has obvious technical and economic advantages in the domestic methanol industry. Tons of methanol consumes 888 cubic meters of natural gas, while currently domestic 100,000 to 200,000 tons of natural gas methanol plants consume 1050 cubic meters of methanol. In particular, the use of flue gas carbon dioxide recovery technology, can recover 130 million cubic meters of carbon dioxide per year, for methanol synthesis, compared with similar devices, the equivalent of annual emission reduction of carbon dioxide 130 million cubic meters.

At present, the enterprises affiliated to Chongqing Chemical Medical Group need to consume 103,000 tons of methanol annually. In addition, the hydroxyacetonitrile, glycine project, as well as the paraformaldehyde and dimethyl ether projects in the park will consume 2/3 of the methanol in the Changshou Chemical Park. In addition, one-third of methanol can be consumed within 100 kilometers around Chongqing. In addition, the project to be prepared for cooperation with foreign companies such as Japan Sans Gas in the future will build a complete natural gas methanol deep processing industrial chain.

The project will be completed in 2010, which will drive the development of the integrated natural gas-methanol-methanol deep processing industry in Chongqing, which will increase natural gas value by more than 10 times.
