The wire straightener is primarily used in drawing machines and comes in both single and dual plane models. It features an eccentric roller open/closing device with a lever mechanism. The machine includes 5 to 13 rollers per group (options include 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 or 5+5, 7+7, etc.), with roller diameters ranging from 13 mm to 80 mm (0.5" to 3.15").

The upper row of rollers is adjustable, and the machine offers options for light or heavy-duty applications. The model AS/AD is suitable for wires with a tensile strength of up to 60 N/mm² (8400 psi) using standard rollers. The straightening wheels typically have a "V" groove profile but can be customized with "U" grooves upon request.

A wire guide is included as part of the system. The lettering on the model name provides additional information: for example, "J Z Q---5/49" indicates the type of straightener, the number of alignment wheels (18), and the diameter of the straightening wheel (49 mm). The letter after the numbers denotes the type of straightening device—A represents a full-opening and closing design, B allows independent adjustment of a single roller, and T refers to a special design.

This model is equipped with 26 rollers, each with a diameter of 22 mm, specifically designed for welding wires. The straightening process involves positioning the rollers in a way that aligns the product’s movement direction. Two or three large drive rollers are powered by a motor, while several smaller rollers are pressed against the rotating rod or pipe, creating friction and spinning motion.

To achieve the desired compression, the smaller rollers can be adjusted simultaneously or individually forward or backward. Generally, the more rollers used, the higher the precision of the straightened product. As the product is gripped by the rollers, it undergoes continuous linear or rotational motion, leading to compression, bending, and flattening, ultimately achieving a perfectly straight result.
