Tin-based Babbitt (Type #2) consists of approximately 89% tin, with the rest being antimony and copper. This composition provides excellent load-bearing properties and is ideal for high-speed applications. Lead-based Babbitt (Type #7), on the other hand, contains at least 75% lead and is often used in lower-load environments due to its softer nature. It also includes small amounts of antimony and tin to improve strength and hardness.
