3-11 Alarm fire in Chicago, 6-1-17 (more)

An interesting historical note about the 3-11 Alarm fire in Chicago on June 1, 2017, reveals that a similar 2-11 Alarm fire occurred in the same building on April 24, 1983. To date, we haven't come across any photos of that earlier incident from our contributors. Here's an image of the Chicago Fire Department's extra alarm listing for April 1983:

Steve Redick shared this detailed account of the 1983 fire: > "Thursday morning (during the peak of rush hour), a fire broke out at 2945 Milwaukee Ave. The blaze was in a two-story furniture store, with the upper floor completely enclosed by brick veneer. There was heavy fire throughout the building, and it eventually burned through and collapsed what I believe was a bowstring truss roof. The lighting conditions were challenging due to areas of bright sunlight and deep shadows. I finally managed to capture some great shots of Squad 2’s new ‘snorkel’ fully extended and in operation, along with some tower ladder operations and the spare snorkel. It was also interesting to see Engine 69 connected to a hydrant in front of Engine 91’s former station at 3000 N Elbridge, just a short distance from the rear of the fire building. Here is a sample of the hundreds of images—complete galleries and videos can be viewed here." Steve Below is a gallery of some of the photos taken during the event:
