U.S. survey claims that Toyota's electronic control system has no defects

According to the final investigation report issued by the US Department of Transportation, Xinhua News Agency, Washington Electric Power Department, on the 8th, there is no link between Toyota's electric throttle and unintended acceleration. At this point, the U.S. government’s investigation into the Toyota recalls came to an end.

U.S. Minister of Transport Lahoud said in a statement on the same day that NASA engineers had investigated that Toyota’s unintentional high-speed acceleration has nothing to do with the electronic system. This conclusion is consistent with the findings of the survey released by the Ministry of Communications last summer.

In the past two years, Toyota recalled about 12 million cars globally due to floor mats and accelerator pedal failures. The US Congress requested the government to conduct a full investigation of the Toyota incident 10 months ago. More than once, Congress claimed that the fault of Toyota's electronic control system is the reason for its sudden acceleration, but Toyota has always denied this attitude.

In August last year, the US Department of Transportation analyzed the automobile “black box”, which is a preliminary investigation report released by the car driving recorder. It stated that Toyota Motor’s electronic control system was not found to be defective. The driver’s mistake may be the cause of the car accident.

Although the final report found no defects in Toyota's electronic throttle, US regulators said that they will consider new requirements for all auto brake systems that respond to unintended acceleration. In order to handle the recall incident, Toyota has paid the U.S. government a fine of 48.8 million U.S. dollars.
