As the first snowfall of the season blanketed the Chicago area, local fire departments were kept busy responding to numerous accidents. This morning, Jeff Rudolph captured a particularly intense two-car collision on Route 173, just west of Delaney Road in Wadsworth, Illinois. The Newport Township Fire Protection District (FPD) quickly mobilized multiple units, with additional support arriving from neighboring Zion and Winthrop Harbor. Thankfully, all six individuals involved were transported to nearby medical facilities, and their injuries seemed to be non-life-threatening.
The images below offer a glimpse into the scene, showcasing the rapid response and coordination between emergency services. Newport Township FPD had both of its ambulances—unit 1441 and others—on-site, while Squad 1458 was strategically placed to act as a barricade, ensuring the safety of responders and victims alike. Additional resources like Brush 1475 were dispatched to bolster manpower. Mutual aid partners such as the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department and Zion also contributed valuable assistance, with their ambulances arriving to help manage the influx of patients.
