I just got back from the 2019 Chicago Air and Water Show and man, it was absolutely incredible! Steve Redick really captured some amazing moments from the event. I can still hear the roar of those jets as they soared through the sky, leaving trails of red, white, and blue smoke behind them. It’s hard to believe how talented these pilots are; they make everything look so effortless.
Here’s a glimpse into what I saw. This first shot shows one of the most iconic moments—when the Blue Angels performed their synchronized flybys. The precision is just mind-blowing! You can almost feel the adrenaline pumping in this image. And check out that perfect alignment; it's like they’re dancing in the air.
Then there’s another angle where you get a sense of the sheer size of the aircraft compared to the crowd below. It’s fascinating how small everything looks when you’re standing on the ground, but then again, the scale of the show makes it all the more impressive.
One thing that always amazes me at these events is how the water show complements the air display so beautifully. In this next photo, you see some jet skiers performing acrobatics while jets zoom overhead. The choreography between land, sea, and sky is something else entirely.
And let’s not forget the quieter moments too. There’s a certain charm in seeing families gathered together, enjoying the spectacle. It’s not every day you get to witness such a grand celebration of aviation and innovation right by Lake Michigan.
