Another piece from Jim Regan's collection. This particular fire broke out on a freezing winter night and unfortunately led to the tragic death of Firefighter Kelvin Anderson from Engine 107. FF Anderson's body was found several hours after the fire reached its peak intensity. I’ve uploaded some pictures I personally captured at this incident.
There’s also an account from fsi.illinois.edu:

On December 22, 1989, Firefighter Kelvin Anderson of the Chicago Fire Department, who served with Engine 107, tragically lost his life while responding to a fire at the Rose of Sharon Church on West Warren Boulevard. FF Anderson was reportedly crawling through the burning structure in search of potential victims when the roof suddenly collapsed around 7 p.m. It took over sixteen hours for search and rescue teams to recover his body, which was found buried under debris in the church’s basement. Autopsy results confirmed that he succumbed to asphyxiation and severe burns. FF Anderson was posthumously honored with full departmental ceremonies, and a commemorative plaque honoring his memory was unveiled at Engine 107’s station in 2001.

This story has always been a stark reminder of the immense risks firefighters take every day. The dedication and sacrifice shown by FF Anderson and others like him continue to inspire respect and gratitude within our community. It’s heartbreaking to think about how quickly situations can change, especially when lives are on the line. Rest in peace, FF Anderson—you will never be forgotten.
