I recently received an unforgettable gift from my wife for Father's Day—a tour of the historic Engine 41. It turned out to be more exciting than I could have imagined. During our visit, we witnessed something truly unexpected when Engine 2 and Fireboat 6-8-8 responded to a call near the Wabash Bridge. Apparently, there was some debris stuck in the gears of the bridge, which caused quite a scene. Fireboat 6-8-8 even got splashed with water from their deck gun while tackling what appeared to be a fairly minor fire. Surprisingly, despite its size, this incident provided a unique perspective from the river level, offering some really interesting photo opportunities.
Attached are a few images taken by me during the event. The angles and the interplay of light and water make these shots stand out, even though the fire itself wasn’t particularly large. These photos capture the raw energy and teamwork involved in firefighting operations on the water, which is something you don’t see every day.

It’s moments like these that remind me why I love capturing the action and dedication of firefighters. Even in situations that might seem mundane at first glance, there’s always something extraordinary happening if you look closely enough.
