At approximately 6:30 AM on Friday, April 6, 2018, emergency responders from Buffalo Grove were dispatched to 643 Hickory Drive following reports of a house fire. When they arrived, police officers found light smoke and signs of fire in a second-floor rear bedroom. All occupants were safely outside. Coincidentally, Arlington Heights Engine 4 was already en route, having just finished a medical call nearby. Buffalo Grove Chief 400 arrived shortly after and corroborated the initial assessment provided by the police.
An immediate interior attack was initiated, and the incident was quickly upgraded to a Code 4 working fire. Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames within roughly ten minutes. Among the responding units were Arlington Heights Engine 4, multiple vehicles from the Buffalo Grove Fire Department including Chief 400, Engine 408, Tower 25, Engine 26, Quint 27, along with an ambulance and squad unit. Additional support came from neighboring departments such as Palatine Engine 82, Prospect Heights Engine 9, Barrington’s ambulance service, Long Grove Battalion 55, and more.
