Libertyville firefighters were dispatched to a fire alarm at 232 Red Top Drive on Sunday afternoon (March 31, 2019). Upon arrival, they quickly identified flames spreading through the roof of the building. As the situation worsened, the fire was escalated to a Box Alarm status, prompting a more aggressive, defensive strategy from the firefighting teams. Thanks to their swift actions, the fire was largely contained within a short time, with significant damage limited to a portion of the roof and the second floor of one unit in the multi-family residential complex.
The firefighting effort was supported by multiple neighboring departments, including Mundelein, Countryside, Lake Bluff, Gurnee, Lake Forest, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Round Lake, and Grayslake. Their combined efforts were crucial in preventing further escalation and ensuring the safety of those in the surrounding area.
