Shandong promotes the construction of 50 shipbuilding projects

Currently, Shandong is home to 50 ship-related supporting projects that span various critical areas such as high-power low-speed diesel engines, crankshaft manufacturing, and onboard processing and distribution systems. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to strengthen the provinceâ€™s maritime industry and support the growing demand for advanced shipbuilding technologies. Among these projects, 11 are already under construction. This includes the high-power low-speed diesel engine project by CSIC Qingdao Qiyue Linshan Company, the second phase of Haixi Heavy Industry's crankshaft project, and the deck machinery and shafting production facility of Haixi Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. Other ongoing projects include the 725 ship anti-corrosion and anti-pollution system with micro-microbial ballast water treatment, the second phase of Weichai's marine medium-speed diesel engine development, the shafting and rudder system finishing project at Weihai Yihe Company, the steel ship plate processing and distribution center in Jinan, and the marine mooring chain project by Laiwu Zibo Anchor Chain Company. All of these are expected to be completed and operational by 2008. In addition, several other major projects have entered the preliminary planning stage. For instance, Shandong Tongyu Group is working on a large casting and forging project for marine high-power diesel engine crankshafts and transmission tail shafts. Laigang Group is developing a heavy H-beam and shipboard steel project for marine use, while the relocation of the Qingdao wind turbine factory is also progressing. These projects are anticipated to begin construction in 2008, further solidifying Shandong's position as a key player in the shipbuilding and marine technology sector.
