Basel PP Resin for the production of P&G bottles

ROTTERDAM, NETHERLANDS: The International Family, Beauty and Personal Care Products company, P&G, and PTI Europe have jointly developed an injection blown billet forming (ISBM) container bottle that outperforms traditional materials. LyondellBasell Industries, which manufactures polyolefin products, has significantly improved the performance of polypropylene, and the innovative bottle design has been designed by Procter & Gamble and PTI's innovative bottles to make it commercially available.
Patrick Etesse, researcher at P&G Global Packaging & Equipment Development Research, stated: "We spent two years studying how to improve the performance of polypropylene resin and designing innovative packaging that can finally be applied to household products."
With a density of 0.5 liters lower than PET, the 1L and 2L bottles use LyondellBasell's new Stretchene PP resin, which has higher hardness, transparency, impact strength and yield than conventional plastics.
Stretchene resin products are rich in color, good transparency, light weight, excellent chemical stability, high impact strength, good water blocking performance, and a 34% lower density than PET. Compared with high-density polyethylene bottles, the new polypropylene product can be reduced in quality by 15% to 20%, and the bottle design is easy to hold.
The high degree of freedom in designing Stretchene resin can also be freely designed into a variety of shapes, as well as filling technology, so that the high productivity of ISBM equipment can be fully utilized.
