The conference focused on academic exchanges on topics such as “The resources, quality of Chinese herbal medicine, and the progress and application of Chinese herbal medicine in treatment, prevention, health care, and aesthetics”.

According to the general survey of Chinese medicine resources in the province, Yunnan has a total of 463 medical plants, plants and minerals, 2107 genera and 6559 species. The production and storage of main animal and plant medicinal materials amounted to nearly 1 billion kilograms, and more than 1.1 billion tons of mineral medicines. The variety and quantity are the highest in the country.

"In addition to Yunnan's unique herbal resources, Yunnan has unique ethnic medicines. According to reports, over the past thousands of years, 25 ethnic minorities in Yunnan have continuously explored and accumulated a wealth of experience in disease prevention and treatment, forming a Dai. Dai medicine is the mainstay and a unique cloud medicine culture system supplemented by minority medicine such as Tibetan, Miao, Zhuang, Bai and Naxi. By the end of 2007, the province's pharmaceutical industry had achieved a total production value of 7.778 billion yuan, an increase of 29.85% over 2006, and an industrial added value of 3.269 billion yuan.

It is reported that Yunnan Province's "Eleventh Five-Year" plan for the development of modernization of traditional Chinese medicine science and technology industry proposes that it is necessary to cultivate a batch of innovative Chinese medicine enterprises and famous brands as the primary task, so as to comprehensively upgrade the modernization and technology level of Yunnan Traditional Chinese Medicine and fully realize the use of traditional Chinese medicine, The natural medicine-based pharmaceutical industry has a production value of 10 billion yuan, making our province a world-renowned natural medicine R&D and production base linking Southeast Asia and South Asia.
