China's largest SO2 emission transaction completed

At present, the largest amount of sulfur dioxide emissions trading in China has been quietly completed in Taiyuan. The transaction involved sulfur dioxide emissions of more than 14,000 tons, the transaction amount of nearly 90 million yuan, the highest transaction price of 6315 yuan / ton. The transaction was signed on 31 December 2009 in Taiyuan by State Grid Energy Development Co., Ltd., Shanxi International Energy Group Co., Ltd., Shanxi Jingyu Power Generation Co., Ltd., and Tongjia Guodian Wangping Power Generation Co., Ltd., three power generation companies.
The negotiation process for tracing this transaction was not smooth. Once it was stagnant, it was finally negotiated with the coordination of the Shanxi Environmental Protection Agency. However, at present, the seller has encountered tax problems and has not recovered nearly 90 million in price.
At the same time, the “Shanxi Provincial Government is applying to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Environmental Protection for pilot projects of the National Emissions Trading Center. The center is expected to come out this year,” said Liu Xidan, deputy inspector of the Shanxi Provincial Department of Environmental Protection, to this reporter. “This Means that the sulfur dioxide emission rights trading in Shanxi Province has entered a countdown."
