PPG Industries Inc. announced that it plans to spend US$27 million to expand its paint manufacturing facility in Mexico to meet the growing market demand in the automotive and other industries.
PPG Industries will build four new buildings at its San Juan del Rio plant in Mexico, and the production and laboratory area will expand by 100,000 square feet. This project is expected to be completed next year, when PPG will employ 115 employees in the factory, which is 30% more than the current employee scale.
PPG said that the newly expanded capacity at the San Juan Rio plant will help the company meet the growth in demand for customers such as OEMs . The expansion project will adopt the concept of eco-friendly building design, provide natural light for the employees' area, use intelligent lighting systems to maximize energy efficiency, and will also have the function of water circulation.
