Prof. Doeen observes six locations on Catalina Mountain. Every five years, he measures the amount of degradation of olivine and plagioclase, and finds that ants bring about 300 times the decomposition rate of some minerals. Prof. Doon believes that ants collect calcium, magnesium and other elements.
The ants need to build the walls of the lair and carry out the squeezing when they move the sand to collect the calcium and magnesium elements. These elements in the ant's intestines, through the action of microorganisms, react with carbon dioxide to form limestone and are excreted. This process is very similar to the carbon fixation method. Carbon sequestration is the process of fixing or absorbing carbon dioxide through trees and the ocean. For example, in the case of marine carbon fixation, liquids are formed by placing carbon dioxide deep in the ocean and gradually dissolve in time.
The study was published in the journal Geology. However, Prof. Doon claims that the amount of carbon dioxide that ants have eliminated in the atmosphere cannot be determined. But this can bring another way of thinking to solve the greenhouse effect.
