The SZ series water ring vacuum pumps are available in four sizes: SZ-1, SZ-2, SZ-3, and SZ-4. These pumps can generate a high level of vacuum, ranging from 86% to 95%. The maximum pressure produced by the SZ-1 and SZ-2 models is between 1.0 and 1.4 kg/cm². For the SZ-3 and SZ-4 models, the maximum pressure under motor power is 1.5 kg/cm², which can be increased to 2.1 kg/cm² if the motor power is upgraded. (Pump type designation: "SZ" stands for water ring pump, with "S" indicating the water ring type and "Z" indicating the vacuum pump, while the number denotes the model sequence.)
Applications and specifications of the SZ type water ring vacuum pump
The SZ water ring vacuum pumps and compressors are designed for pumping or compressing air and other non-corrosive, water-insoluble gases to create a vacuum or pressure within a closed container. They are widely used in industrial and commercial settings where controlled pressure and vacuum conditions are required.
Working principle of the SZ type water ring vacuum pump
The SZ water ring vacuum pump operates based on the rotation of an impeller that is eccentrically mounted inside the pump casing. During startup, a certain amount of water is injected into the pump. As the impeller rotates, centrifugal force causes the water to form a rotating water ring along the inner wall of the casing. The upper surface of this water ring is tangent to the hub of the impeller and rotates in the direction of the arrow. During the first half of the rotation, the space between the impeller blades increases, allowing gas to be drawn in through the suction port. In the second half of the rotation, the space decreases, compressing the gas and discharging it through the outlet. This cycle repeats continuously as the impeller rotates, creating a steady flow of gas extraction. Since the water heats up during operation and some of it is discharged with the gas, the pump requires a continuous supply of cold water to maintain efficiency and prevent overheating. It is recommended to use water at around 15°C for optimal performance.
If the gas being discharged contains exhaust, a water tank is connected to the exhaust line. After the gas and part of the water enter the tank, the gas escapes through the tank’s outlet pipe, while the water settles at the bottom and is returned to the pump via a return pipe. If the system runs for an extended period, the water may heat up, so additional cold water should be supplied to the tank to maintain cooling.
