From the Chicago Tribune:
Lake Forest firefighters fought a massive blaze that destroyed a home in the city early this morning.
Eric Kositzki, a Lake Forest firefighter, said the fire started just after midnight and was finally extinguished around 4:30 a.m. Firefighters confirmed the house was a total loss.
Battalion Chief Eric Montanello stated that the cause is still under investigation, but foul play is not suspected. Officials are currently estimating the damage, with an estimated cost of at least $1 million. The full extent of the damage may take a few days to determine.
The fire took over an hour to bring under control, as the roof and second floor were fully engulfed. Authorities are still looking into what caused the fire.
According to Lake County records, the home was valued at approximately $1.9 million and sold for over $2 million in 2008.
Thanks, Dan
