ALLU SM Screening Broken Bucket Successfully Applied on Heilongjiang Highway

On March 1, 2006, the Finnish Ricoh ALLU screening and crushing bucket was put to work on the outskirts of Yichun City in Heilongjiang Province. This marked the first installation and testing of the ALLU screening crushing bucket after Yichun Luqiao purchased their first unit. Yichun City Road and Bridge Construction Co., Ltd., a former subsidiary of the local highway bureau, had ordered an SM4-17 sieve crushing bucket in November 2005. According to technical standards, the maximum allowable diameter for sand and gravel used in road construction is 80 cm. However, in Heilongjiang, approximately 30% to 40% of the riverbed material exceeds this size, requiring prior screening before use. Traditionally, three methods were used: manual sorting, building a fixed drum screening station, or adding a large screen directly at the mixing station’s inlet. These methods were inefficient, often affecting the overall productivity of the mixing station and resulting in suboptimal material quality. The introduction of the SM4-17 screening and crushing bucket significantly improved efficiency, reduced costs, and shortened project timelines. The ALLU bucket operates as an active screening system, running at high speed and processing materials quickly. Each cycle takes about 5 to 10 seconds, allowing four or five buckets to be handled per minute. With each bucket covering around 2.2 square meters, the machine can process up to 300–400 square meters per hour. Over a ten-hour shift, it can handle up to 3,000–4,000 square meters, producing over 2,000 square meters of usable material daily—far surpassing the performance of previous methods. Additionally, the equipment ensures consistent quality control. By using a 60mm knife pitch, the Yichun Road Bridge Company achieved 100% compliance with technical specifications. The material was evenly mixed, reducing the need for extensive supervision and easing the workload on site. What made the system particularly effective was its portability—it could be mounted on excavators and loaders, enabling flexible field operations. It even allowed for loading trucks while the machine was still running, streamlining the entire process. Beyond basic screening and crushing, the ALLU bucket also offered additional functions in highway construction, such as mixing ash after material selection. In cases of pavement damage, it could break down asphalt and reuse it. As long as the task involved screening, crushing, or mixing, the ALLU bucket proved to be a versatile and efficient solution for on-site material management.
