The Beijing Municipal Government Information Office recently announced that the owners of scrapped old motor vehicles from September 15 to October 31 will increase the subsidy of 3,000 yuan on the basis of the subsidy of 6,000 yuan. The bus fare can reach up to 21,500 yuan.
According to reports, the number of motor vehicles in Beijing is currently more than 5.5 million. Studies have shown that carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides emitted by motor vehicles in this city account for 86%, 32% and 56% of the total pollutants, respectively. Among PM2.5 sources, motor vehicles accounted for 31.1% of local sources. Vehicle emissions have become one of the main sources of environmental quality.
Li Kunsheng, director of the Motor Vehicle Emissions Management Office of the Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau, said that the owner of the old motor vehicle that was scrapped from September 15 to October 31, 2014 was enjoying the promotion of the elimination of old motor vehicles in the city. On the basis of the subsidy of 6,000 yuan for the plan (2013~2014), the car will increase the subsidy amount of 3,000 yuan, and the maximum increase of the subsidy amount will reach 5,000 yuan. For example, the scrap subsidy for small passenger cars is raised from 7,000 yuan/car to 9,500 yuan/car, and the bus is increased from 16,500 yuan/car to 21,500 yuan/car.
It is understood that the Beijing Municipal Government invested a total of 2 billion yuan in 2013 and 2014 for scrapping vehicle subsidies. The 2013-2014 old car elimination subsidy policy will be completed by the end of the year. The time for the transfer of old motor vehicles shall be subject to the time when the vehicle files provided by the public security traffic control department are transferred. The time for scrapping shall be subject to the cancellation time of the vehicle files provided by the public security traffic control department.
