Reversing the direction can cause improper operation because the rotor slots are angled, and the vanes are designed to function in one direction only. The oil inlet and outlet ports are positioned accordingly. Reversible vane pumps require special design features to ensure proper performance. 2. **Proper Assembly and Positioning**: When assembling the vane pump, it's crucial to align the oil pan and stator correctly using positioning pins. The vanes and rotor must be installed properly to avoid contact with the inner surface of the stator. The suction area is particularly prone to wear. If necessary, you can flip the pump to use the previously worn suction zone as a discharge area, extending its lifespan. 3. **Cleanliness During Disassembly**: Always ensure the work area is clean and that the hydraulic oil used is properly filtered. Contamination can significantly reduce the efficiency and life of the pump. 4. **Vane Clearance in Slots**: The clearance between the vanes and their slots must be carefully maintained. If the gap is too large, it will increase internal leakage, reducing efficiency. If it's too small, the vanes may not expand freely, leading to operational issues and potential damage. 5. **Axial Clearance (ηv)**: The axial clearance has a significant impact on the pump’s volumetric efficiency. - For small pumps: 0.015 to 0.03 mm - For medium-sized pumps: 0.02 to 0.045 mm 6. **Oil Temperature and Viscosity**: The oil temperature should generally not exceed 55°C, and the viscosity should be within the range of 17 to 37 mm²/s. If the viscosity is too high, oil intake becomes difficult; if it's too low, internal leakage increases, which can lead to reduced performance and premature failure. By following these guidelines, you can ensure the reliable and efficient operation of vane pumps, while also prolonging their service life. Always refer to the manufacturer's specifications for exact tolerances and operating conditions.
