The successful trial production of the first 10 cubic meter AC-driven excavator equipped with variable frequency speed regulation asynchronous motor in China has recently been announced. This milestone was achieved through a strong collaboration between Taiyuan Heavy Machinery (Group) Co., Ltd. and the China CNR Group's Yongji Motor Factory. The partnership has not only broken the long-standing foreign technology monopoly but also marked a significant step toward the localization of key technologies in excavator variable frequency control motors.
Currently, Taizhong Group and Yongji Motor Factory are entering a new phase of comprehensive cooperation. The 20 cubic meter excavator project is now in the assembly and commissioning stage, while technical agreements have already been signed for the 4 cubic meter and 28 cubic meter projects. Both parties plan to further expand their collaboration by developing larger-sized excavators, aiming to create some of the most advanced and efficient machines in the world.
Previously, AC-driven excavators posed unique challenges for variable frequency motors due to their demanding operating conditions. Only a few foreign companies had mastered this critical technology. However, with this breakthrough, China is now taking a major step forward in becoming a leader in the global construction equipment industry. This development not only enhances domestic technological capabilities but also strengthens the competitiveness of Chinese manufacturers on the international stage.
