The successful trial production of the first 10 cubic meter AC-driven excavator in China, equipped with a variable frequency speed-regulated asynchronous motor, has recently been announced. This milestone was achieved through a strong collaboration between Taiyuan Heavy Machinery (Group) Co., Ltd. and the China CNR Group's Yongji Motor Factory. The partnership has helped break the long-standing foreign technology monopoly, marking a significant step toward the localization of critical technologies in excavator motors.
Currently, Taizhong Group and Yongji Motor Factory are moving into a phase of comprehensive cooperation. The 20 cubic meter excavator project is now in the assembly and commissioning stage, while the 4 cubic meter and 28 cubic meter projects have already signed technical agreements. Both companies plan to expand their collaboration by developing larger-sized excavators, aiming to create some of the most advanced and efficient machines in the world.
Previously, AC-driven excavators required high-performance variable-frequency motors due to their demanding operating conditions. However, this technology had been dominated by foreign manufacturers. Now, with this breakthrough, Chinese companies are not only catching up but also setting new standards in the global mining and construction equipment industry. This development represents a major leap forward in domestic engineering capabilities and positions China as a stronger player in the international market for heavy machinery.
